Born on 27th August 1947 in Brusy.
In 1971 graduated in industrial automation from the Electrical Faculty of Gdańsk University of Technology. In 1979 completed post-graduate studies in microcomputer control of industrial facilities at Warsaw University of Technology.
Between 1971 and 1992 worked at Resortowy Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Automatyki "Chemoautomatyka" (automation R&D centre) at Zakłady Włókien Chemicznych "Elana" (chemical fibre manufacturer) in Toruń. Between 2001 and 2003 was a negotiator at Karstans Spółka z o.o. - Konsultanci Ekonomiczni (business consulting company). Between 2001 and 2005 was a permanent expert of the Sejm State Treasury Committee.
In the 1970s, as an activist of the Catholic Intelligentsia Club in Toruń, was involved in democratic opposition. Was member of the Solidarity Trade Union from 1980 to 1991. In 1980-1981 was member of the Toruń Committee for Defence of Prisoners of Conscience. During the martial law period was interned in Potulice and Strzebielinek.
Since 1981 - member of the Kaszubsko-Pomorskie Alliance and since 1990 - of the foundation Archiwum i Muzeum Pomorskie Armii Krajowej oraz Wojskowej Służby Kobiet (Pomeranian Archives and Museum of the Home Army and Women's Military Service); since 1999 - chairman of the foundation board.
In the Tenth, First and Second Term Sejm was member of the Committee on National and Ethnic Minorities. In the Tenth Term Sejm was also member of the Territorial Self-Government Committee. In the First Term Sejm was member of the Ownership Transformation Committee and in the Second Term Sejm - deputy chairman of that committee. In the Third Term Sejm was deputy chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. In the Fifth Term Sejm was deputy chairman of the State Treasury Committee and member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland and chairman of its section in Toruń.
Widower, has two children.
