Born on 8th September 1955 in Gorlice. In 1980 graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Technology in Krakow and, in 1981, from the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Between 1981 and 1990 worked as designer and then team leader at Krakow Development Bureau. Twice - from 1990 to 1994 and from 1995 to 1998 - was department director in the Provincial Administration Office in Krakow. In 1994 r. was director of the office of the management board of Bank Przemysłowo-Handlowy SA w Krakow, in 1998 - director of the Spatial Planning Department at the Housing and Urban Development Office in Warsaw. In 2007 was the aide of Krakow City mayor for cultural matters. Between 1999 and 2002 was deputy marshal then, between 2002 and 2006, marshal of Małopolskie Province. Between 2002 and 2006 was deputy to Małopolskie Provincial Parliament; in 2006 became chairman of its Budget, Property and Finance Committee. Since 2002 represents Małopolskie Province in the Union of Polish Provinces. Was member of the European Union Committee of the Regions (2004-2006) and member of the Bureau of the Assembly of European Regions (2002-2006). Member of the SARP Association of Polish Architects, Society for Appreciation of Krakow's History and Historical Monuments, Social Committee for Restoration of Krakow's Historical Monuments and the board of the "Do Not Be Afraid" John Paul II Centre. Member of the following museum boards: National Museum in Krakow, Archaeological Museum in Krakow, Wawel Royal Castle (until 2006). Since 2002 chairman of the Social Council of "John Paul II" Specialized Hospital in Krakow. Member of the programming council of the International Centre of Culture in Krakow. Recipient of numerous branch awards for achievements in spatial planning and of foreign distinctions. Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland and member of its national board. Married, has two children. |
