Born on 9th June 1941 in Rybnik.
In 1968, graduated from the Mining Faculty at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. In 1972 obtained a doctoral degree, in 1980 - degree of Doctor Habilitated in mining; and since 1992 is a professor at Silesian University of Technology.
From 1958 to 1963 and from 1968 to 1969 was a coal miner at Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Górniczych "Wirek" in Ruda Śląska. Between 1969 and 1974 was teaching assistant, then assistant professor, at Silesian University of Technology. 1974-1981 - administrative director of University of Technology in Lublin. In 1981, returned to Silesian University of Technology where between 1987 and 1996 was deputy dean, then dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty. Since 1996 - deputy head of the Faculty's Department of Roads and Bridges. Since 1999 serves as chairman of the A-1 Highway Construction Steering Team.
Since 1988, operates a private construction company.
1998-2005 - member of Wodzisław District Council (its chairman between 1998 and 2002).
Specializes in small tunnel drilling technologies applied in building underground engineering structures, particularly in tunnelling operations using mining technologies. Author of several dozens scientific publications and numerous patents.
Member of the Solidarity Trade Union at Silesian University of Technology.
Member of the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians, and member of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Rybnik Industrial District.
In the Sixth Term Senate was member of the National Economy Committee.
Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland. Helped to establish its section in Rybnik; member of the Civic Platform provincial board in Silesia.
Married, has one child.
