Born in 1939 in Żabno (Lublin Province).

In 1962, graduated from the Faculty of Christian Philosophy of the Catholic University of Lublin and, in 1970, of the Medical Faculty of the Białystok Medical University. Certified clinical psychologist and psychiatrist.

1993-1999 - member of the National Broadcasting Council. In 1995, initiated and co-founded Stowarzyszenie Ochrony Radiosłuchacza i Telewidza w Polsce (Association for the Protection of Radio Listeners and Television Viewers in Poland). In 1999, initiated and coordinated the establishment of Porozumienie Polskich Nadawców Radiowych i Telewizyjnych "Przyjazne Media" ("Friendly Media" Alliance of Polish Radio and Television Broadcasters) . 1986-1990 - member of the Primate's Social Council; 1990-1993 - Chairman of the Białystok Archdiocese Episcopal Social Council.

Member of the Club of Catholic Intelligentsia. Member of Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Chorych "Hospicjum" (an association helping the sick) and Stowarzyszenie Lekarzy Katolickich (Association of Catholic Doctors). Since 1997, Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. In 2004, was admitted to the elite Equestrian Order of the Mother of God of Jasna Góra.

In the Second Term Senate, member of the Culture, Media, Science and National Education Committee, and National Assembly Constitutional Committee. In the Fifth Term Senate, member of the Culture and Media Committee.

His life motto: Omnia mea mecum sunt ("all that is mine I carry within me").

Member of the League of Polish Families.

Married, has two sons.
