Born on 21st July 1944 in Vilnius.

In 1968, graduated from the Faculty of History at "Mikołaj Kopernik" University in Toruń.

1968-1971 - head of the Scientific and Educational Department of Stutthof Museum. 1972-1974 - scientific assistant at Western Pomeranian Institute in Szczecin. 1976-1992 - senior researcher at Scientific Information Centre of Szczecin Maritime University. 1994-1997 - deputy director of the Szczecin branch of Supreme Chamber of Control.

1980-1981 - deputy chairman and then chairman of the Solidarity Trade Union National Network of Professional Librarians. During the martial law period, was member of the Coordination Council of Solidarity's Western Pomeranian Region. Was also regional representative to the advisory group of Solidarity's Interim National Committee.

Co-edited BIS and OKNO periodicals ("OKNO", which means "window" in Polish, is an anagram of Polish words that stand for enlightenment, culture, science and resistance). After 1989, was secretary and then deputy chairman of Solidarity's Western Pomeranian Regional Board. Was member of Solidarity's National Commission and of the Civic Alliance Committee of Szczecin Region.

1992-1994 - chairman of the provincial board and member of the main board of the Centre Alliance Party. In 2001, was the regional representative of the Law and Justice political party in Szczecin.

In the Fourth Term Senate, was deputy chairman of the Culture and Media Committee and member of the Local Government and Public Administration Committee.

In the Fourth Term Sejm, was member of the Culture and Media Committee.

Member of the Law and Justice.

Married, has three children.
