Born on 4th July 1957 in the village of Józefowo (Podlasie Province).
Graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Secondary School in Białystok in 1982.
Between 1975 and 1994 worked at Fabryka Przyrządów i Uchwytów in Białystok (tool manufacturing plant), initially as a rank-and-file physical worker then, from 1983, as a master in the experimental department. Between 1995 and 2005 served as the chairman of the management board of PUHP "Lech" Sp. z o.o. in Białystok. Between 2002 and 2005 was a deputy to the Podlasie Provincial Parliament.
1985-1986 - deputy chairman of the employee council at the tool manufacturing plant; 1987-1988 - chairman of the council. During that period, became involved in local self-government activism. In 1988 co-established Stowarzyszenie Działaczy Samorządu Pracowniczego (Association of Employee Self-Government Activists). Chairman of the Podlasie Białystok Sports Club.
In the Tenth and First Term Sejm, was a member of the Committee on Foreign Economic Relations and Maritime Management, Committee on the Economic System, Industry and Construction, and Committee on National and Ethnic Minorities.
Was active in the Solidarity Trade Union since 1980. In 1990 co-founded the Centre Alliance political party. Was a member of its national leadership and chairman of the provincial board in Białystok. In 2001 co-founded the Law and Justice political party and was appointed the chairman of its Podlasie regional board.
Married, father of eight children.
