Born on 9th June 1941 in Rybnik.
In 1968, graduated from the Mining Faculty at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
In 1981, obtained the degree of doctor habilitated in mining. Since 1992, professor at Silesian University of Technology.
1974-1980 - administrative director of University of Technology in Lublin. In 1980, returned to Silesian University of Technology where between 1990 and 1996 was dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty. Lecturer in the Faculty's Department of Roads and Bridges. Specializes in small tunnel drilling technologies applied in building underground engineering structures, particularly in tunnelling operations using mining technologies.
Author of several dozens scientific publications and numerous patents.
Since 1988, operates a private construction company.
1998-2005 - member of Wodzisław District Council (its chairman between 1998 and 2002).
In 1999, was elected chairman of the A-1 Highway Construction Steering Team.
Member of the Solidarity Trade Union at Silesian University of Technology.
Member of the Civic Platform political party. Helped to establish its section in Rybnik; member of the Civic Platform provincial board in Silesia.
Married, has one child.
