Born on 7th June 1942 in Kielce.

In 1965, graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. 1972 - obtained the degree of doctor; 1985 - obtained the degree of doctor habilitated. In 2001, obtained the title of professor; in 2003 - appointed full professor.

1965-1972 - worked at State Provincial Archives in Kielce. 1973 - began work at the Teachers' College in Kielce, renamed to the Pedagogical College. Since 1978 - director of the Library Science and Scientific Information Department at the College; 1988-1996 - director of the History Institute at the College. Re-elected to the College Senate in every term since 1980. 1990-1993 - vice rector of the College, 1999-2005 - its rector (the College was in the meantime renamed to the Pedagogical University in Kielce). Chairman of the Department of History of Education, Culture and Science at the University History Institute. Also lectured at the Pedagogical College in Rzeszów and in Częstochowa. Since 1996, collaborates with the Świętokrzyski University in Kielce.

His scientific interests focus on the history of education and science on Polish soil in the 19th and 20th century, and on social and regional history. Author of numerous publications, mainly scientific.

Member of Związek Harcerstwa Polskiego (Polish Scouting Union) since 1957; between 1973 and 1977 - member of its Supreme Council. Since 1965, member of the Polish Historical Society (in the 1970s, was its secretary and branch chairman in Kielce). In 1968, was admitted to Kielce Scientific Society and has served as chairman of its board since 1989. Since 1990, represents that society on the Council of Scientific Societies of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences. 1991-2004 - chairman of Kielce Provincial Board (since 2000 - Regional Board) of the Universal Education Society, concurrently, between 2001 and 2004, was deputy chairman (in 2002 - chairman) of its Main Board. For several terms, served as member of Kielce Regional Commission for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes Committed in Poland.

1994-1998 - member of Kielce City Council and its representative in Kielce Provincial Parliament.
