Born on 26th May 1947 in Siebieszów.

W 1972 graduated with a major in economics and business management from the Faculty of Agriculture at the Higher School of Agriculture in Olsztyn (now University of Warmia and Mazury). Also completed post-graduate studies in the humanities at Gdańsk University (1989) and in bank law and banking at Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń (1993).

Between 1973 and 1975, worked in the Rural Youth Union as deputy chairman of its provincial council. Subsequently, headed for two years the Pieniężno town and commune administration. Between 1977 and 1990, occupied various positions of leadership in the government of the former Elbląg Province. Between 1990 and 2000, was branch manager of Bank Rozwoju Rolnictwa "Rolbank" SA and Bank Zachodni SA in Elbląg. Established a Polish bank branch in Kaliningrad and was its first manager. From 1995 to 1998 was a member of the supervisory board of the agricultural commodities exchange "Giełda Elbląska". Between 2001 and 2004 - North Region director of ELEKTRIM-MEGADEX SA company in Elbląg, then business development director at SNC - LAVALIN MEGADEX company. In 2006, served as business development director at ABB Zamech Gazpetro company.

As Elbląg Provincial Administrator between 1996 and 1997, oversaw the groundwork of the Northern Poland Employment Promotion Program.

In 1998 was elected to the parliament of the Warmia and Mazury Province and was its deputy speaker and chairman of the Development Strategy Committee. Chaired the editorial board of the Warmia and Mazury Development Strategy.

Between 1998 and 2001, was a member of the Social Council of the Provincial United Hospital in Elbląg. Is a member of the Children's Aid Society and chairman of the Warmia and Mazury Boxing Association. Initiated the establishment of the State Higher Vocational School in Elbląg and, since 1998, chairs its Convention. Chairman of the Elbląg Association for the Development of Higher Education (since 1999) and Elbląg Academic Foundation (since 2001). Member of the Elbląg branch of the Lions Club (since 2003).

In the 5th Term Senate, was a member of the Economy and Public Finance Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Power Industry Restructuring.

Co-founded the Social Democratic Party of Poland and, subsequently, the Democratic Left Alliance. First chairman of the provincial council of the Social Democratic Party of Poland in Elbląg and deputy chairman of the provincial council of the Democratic Left Alliance in Warmia and Mazury Province.

Member of the Democratic Left Alliance.

Married, has two sons.


Received his senatorial mandate in a supplementary election conducted on 28th January 2007. Was sworn in on 7th February 2007.
