Born on 1st September 1944 in Warsaw.
In 1967, graduated from the Faculty of Law at Warsaw University. In 1969, completed court articling and passed examinations to become a judge at the Provincial Court in Warsaw. Between 1969 and 1972, worked as a judge, then, between 1972 and 1983 - as a prosecutor. Dismissed from the position in the prosecutor's office in 1983, worked as a lawyer and, until 2005, ran his own law office in Warsaw. In the 1980s, defended Solidarity activists and supporters, as well as priests.
In September 1980, founded a Solidarity Trade Union Unit at the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. Since 1981, Deputy Chairman of the Solidarity Committee at Instytut Problemów Przestępczości w Warszawie (Crime Research Institute in Warsaw). At that time, served as adviser to the Mazowsze Region Solidarity Intervention and Mediation Committee. Between 1989 and 1992 - adviser then Chief of the National Civic Committee Intervention and Complaint Bureau in Warsaw. In the 1990 presidential election, was a member of Lech Wałęsa's Election Committee, and in the 2005 presidential election - member of Lech Kaczyński's Honorary Election Staff.
