Ryszard Ciecierski

Candidate of the Civic Platform Election Committee


Born on 21st August 1942 in the locality of Mieczyszczów in Podole Region (now in Ukraine).

In 1968, graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. In 1975, obtained the degree of doctor of technical sciences. In 2002, completed post-graduate studies in management, internal control and auditing in the Faculty of Economics and Management at Polonia University in Częstochowa.

1970-1991, and 2002-2003, worked as assistant and then assistant professor at the Higher School of Engineering in Opole (since 1996 - Opole University of Technology).

Author of didactic textbooks, scientific publications and numerous patents.

1991-2002 - worked in Opole Provincial Administration as general director and then as deputy director of the Department of Organization and Supervision, and director of the Department of Supervision and Control. Retired in 2003.

2002-2005 - member of Opole City Council (its chairman until May 2005).

In 1981, helped to organize and chaired the Solidarity Trade Union at the Higher School of Engineering in Opole. Arrested by the regime on 13th December 1981 (imposition of marital law measures).

Member of the Catholic Intelligentsia Club in Opole and Parlament Dobroczynności Association (a charitable NGO).

No political party affiliation.

Married, has four children.
