Born on 2nd July 1962 in Krakow.
In 1986, completed studies in history in the Faculty of Philosophy and History at Jagiellonian University. 1986-1990 - completed a special study program in history at that university. In 2004, completed post-graduated studies in corporate and education management at AGH University of Science and Technology. As a Lanckoroński Foundation fellow, pursued scientific work at Vatican Archives focused on the history of papal diplomacy.
Since 1990, works as history teacher at "A. Witkowski" General Education Secondary School No. 5 in Krakow.
As an undergraduate student, was active in the allowed and, subsequently, banned Independent Students' Alliance. Member of the Solidarity Trade Union from the beginning of his working career.
1998-2002 - member of Krakow City Council; 2002-2005 - president of Małopolskie Provincial Parliament. 2004-2005 represented the Republic of Poland in the European Union Committee of Regions.
A cultural activist, inspirer and organizer of several museum exhibitions, outdoor happenings and patriotic song reviews. Co-creator of Zwierzyniecki Salon Artystyczny (a section of Krakow Historical Museum devoted to the artistic past of Krakow's Zwierzyniec district). Editor of several books featuring old songs and author of albums and numerous press articles. In 1994, established Tygodnik Salwatorski weekly magazine and continues to serve as its editor. 1998-2002 - deputy chairman of the Solidarity Civic Committee in Krakow. Among others, member of Bractwo Kurkowe (a patriotic association), Society of Admirers of Krakow's Historical Monuments, and Catholic Action.
Member of the Law and Justice political party.
Married, has one child.
